Cairns is the capital of North Queensland and the gateway to one of the world's most famous heritage areas -The Great Barrier Reef.

Even with a disability, you can still experience this amazing location as you can connect accessible flights, accessible rental vehicles, and accessible Reef catamarans to take you right there. Get into the water and experience the fish life and corals!

 

Great restaurants, nightlife, beaches, tropical rainforests, and National Parks are all within easy reach. Short- or long-term hires are available to suit your requirements.

Please note the geographic limits in the hire terms and conditions. Vehicles may not be driven on the Bloomfield Track north of Cape Tribulation — 4WD only.

We can meet you off your flight, and you can travel directly to Port Douglas or stay around Cairns to experience the many great sights, excursions, and activities close to the city. Note: An airport service fee applies.​

Wheelies Van Rentals Cairns:  c/o Malu Care Disability Services, 181 Mulgrave Road, Cairns.

 

Depot opening hours: 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Closed on weekends.

 

Vehicles available in Cairns: Kia Carnival and Toyota Commuter.

 

Vehicle deliveries (to Cairns Airport only) are available during opening hours. Airport delivery service fees will apply.

Wheelies Van Rentals – Terms and Conditions (Summary)

  • The minimum charge for the rental period in some locations is two or three days.

  • The minimum hire period for the Easter and Christmas/New Year period is six days.

  • Short term rentals are between 2 days and 29 days. Long term rentals from 30+ days. Short term rates vary in each location.

  • Wheelies Van Rentals booking office operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4pm (AEST Brisbane). Deliveries are available seven days per week.

  • Deliveries can be made 7 days per week (excluding December 25/26th).

  • Drivers must be between 25 – 75 years and hold an open/full licence. Younger drivers 21-24 years, and drivers over 75 years can be submitted for approval by the insurance company. Additional insurance excess usually applies for these alternate age groups. No provisional drivers are permitted to drive the vehicles. Ask our booking team for details.

  • In the event the vehicle gets damaged during the hire, the standard excess is $1500. This charge applies to the hirer irrespective of whether they were operating the vehicle at the time. If the booking has reduced excess taken before the hire, the $500 reduced excess is charged to the hirer.

  • 250km per day are included in the hire rate. Any extra kilometres used above the daily allowance are charged at 50 cents per kilometre.

  • The vehicle must return with a full tank of fuel. The hirer will be charged for the fuel plus a $55 admin fee for the fuel top up.

  • Any fines or infringement notices received will be forwarded to the hirer/driver of the vehicle.

  • International drivers must present their passport number as additional identification.

  • Any VIC/NSW toll notices received will be on charged to the hirer plus an admin fee of $50.

  • All vehicles have roadside assistance if required. Any call outs for keys being locked in the vehicle will be charged to the hirer. In the event of an accident, it may not be possible for us to provide a replacement rental vehicle.

  • Drivers are not supplied for the vehicle.
